What does a cold sore feel like before it fully emerges?
I have a small red area on my bottom lip. It only hurts when I apply pressure to it, either with my finger, or rubbing my lips together. It's not very red at all, but noticable to me. I've never had a cold sore before, is this the start of one? There is not even a raised bump, just a little bit of pressure. Feels like a pimple with no head. Also, I have not had a different sexual partner in 2 years. How did I contracct this?

When I get a cold sore, it kinda tingles and hurts if I touch it. It's not the same form of the std herpes virus, it's something you are born with, but I read that if you perform oral on someone while you have a cold sore, you can give someone genital herpes(web md). I get them in the winter when I get really chapped lips.They suck!
