Best cold sore remedies?

I really despise cold sores, but unfortunately, I am one of those people who gets them! They are very embarrassing as all of you know. I have one now, and it was almost healed then it just split and now I have a bright red cut/mark on my lip! D: What could I put on it to minimize redness and if possible speed up the healing process? Thank you!

honestly i know it sounds weird...but try dabbing a touch of perfume on them when you get them...just as effective as any chemist bought remidy!!! my mom gets coldsores BAD! and thats what she swears by and our family doctor agrees its just as effective as anything he could prescribe!!
