Cold Sores Treatment At Home

My lips have been severely dry and chapped for months. Any advice?

My lips have been dry, red, inflamed, chapped, and cracking for months now. I've shown my dr and nothing that he is saying is helping. At first he blamed it on the herpes virus, which he gave me a prescription for, did nothing. I've never had a cold sore in my life. There are not any sores on my lips unless the center of my bottom lip cracks, which has been happening frequently. I do not have health insurance so I cannot see a specialist. I do have a severe vitamin D deficiency which I am being treated for. I've tried every lip balm sold at Walgreens. I've tried pure Lanolin. It burns when I eat or drink things (when it touches my lips). I am sick of them being swollen, it looks like I've had lip fattening treatments. Does anyone have any good advice? Any home remedies?
It's not acne. It's dry lips. And accutane caused dry skin, lips, etc.
