Cold Sore And Pregnancy

My question is about cold sores and pregnancy.?

I am actually 8 weeks pregnant and at mass today I shook hands with a girl and she had cold sores to my surprise. I also used the same hand to take host. When I go back home I literally wash my hands and put hand sanitizer. I even clean my teeth with mouthwash. I'm so freaked out that it might affect my baby. This is my 2nd pregnancy ( got miscarriage last year) so you can imagine how overprotective I am. My question is that, will that experience affect my unborn baby? I never had any cold sores before...

no dont worry, chances are very slim of you catching her cold sores. they are usually only passed on through direct contact like kissing, or drinking from the same bottle, etc. and anyway, the cold sores wont harm your baby, unless when your baby is born and you actually do have a cold sore and you kiss the baby or something. so dont worry all will be fine. i have never had them either, and i have a friend who has them quite often. when she comes over for tea, i bleach her cup after she has left! lol, i know that is terrible! but i wouldnt risk catching them either!
