Pregnant with Cold Sore Virus (HSV1) - anyone else have this ?
Hi I am 10 weeks pregnant. And i have the cold sore virus on my genitals. Apparently 30% of women have it on there genitals so my doctor told me. But normally you don't even know you have it. Like me, until i went and seen my doctor for the first time last week.
I was just wondering if anyone out there has had HSV1 or HSV2 and had natural birth?
He said that i can take anti-viral medications at 35 weeks. And its up to me if i have a natural birth or a cesarean.
Just hoped maybe some ladies could tell me there stories if they have experienced this??
I am obviously very concerned as i don't want to pass this to my baby because it can have really damaging consequences.
never had it & don't, but if you have an open sore when you give birth the baby can go blind. there might be other side effects, you should look it up. i know i tested positive for strep B, so they just gave me an antibiotic drip and i delivered vag and the baby was perfect. so, i think the only time you can pass this to your baby is during a vaginal birth.
