Cold Sore Mouth

Can you get a cold sore from cutting your mouth with floss?
I haven't had a cold sore in probably 20 years. But I woke up with one on the left side of my mouth on Sunday. Now it's gone, but I just noticed another one on the other side. I know I cut myself with the dental floss last night, but don't know if I did the other night. They're not big or crusty or anything...I would almost think it was a zit if it wasn't on my lip. I also use ACT mouthwash. Could it be the floss?
Yes, it sure could. Anything that breaks the skin can trigger the cold sore virus to action. If it hurts, you can use a topical gel like Anbesol, or if it becomes a chronic problem, you can take up to 2 grams of L-lysine daily to keep it under control.
