Cold Sores Herpes Treatment

Cold sores?

I know there is no cure for the herpes virus (my husband and I have had the virus since we were both kids - not sexually transmitted) now my 13yr. old daughter has VERY frequent outbreaks around her mouth. At her age they can be especially embarrassing. How can I help her? Is there perhaps some treatment that might make the virus dormant or "go in remission" as it has for me for appx. 7 yrs. now?

Strenghtening the immune system can be the best defense against cold sore outbreaks. Make sure she eats a well balanced diet, and consider a good multiviamin. Keep in mind that at 13, hormone fluctuations are happening, which can often cause outbreaks of the herpes virus. You may also talk to a doctor about an oral anti-viral medication designed for the herpes virus. I have found that the "Abreva" topical cream works well for me- maybe try that first? Remember that the causes of outbreaks are often stress related, hormone related , or physical-stress (dental work, recent chiropractic adjustment, ect..) related. Good luck!
