Herpes Cold Sores Treatment
Do I have Herpes Whitlow?
A little over two weeks ago I had a cold sore. It has healed since then, but yesterday i noticed a small blister forming on the side of my index finger about an inch below where the nail is.The blister is pretty small ( a lot smaller than the pictures I have seen of herpes whitlow), there is a red base around it, and there is only one blister right now. The area is fairly sore as well. I was wondering if this sounds at all like Herpes Whitlow or if there are other possibilities to what this could be. I washed my hands as much as possible after i put treatment on my cold sore, but it is possible that I didnt do a good enough job with that. I never noticed any cuts on my hand either while I had the cold sore.
Also this morning i used a pin to put a small hole in the blister. I squeezed the area and a red looking fluid came out.
it is possible to come out with herpes on another part of your body but this will show when having the first or second attack (this is called autoinoculation) because your body hasn't built up an immunity to the virus yet. You must have to touch your lesions/ coldsore with your hands and not washed them but if you have had quite a few coldsores in your life then the blister wont be herpes whitlow
