Cold Sore Tingling Stage
Might have been exposed to herpes?
Hey There,
About three days ago I may have drank from the same bottle (by mistake) of someone that had a cold sore. However, the bottle was full when I drank from it so it could have been a possibility this person never drank from it in the first place (just opened it), but I can't tell for sure. This person was also at the final healing stage of the cold sore.
Anyways, I have a few questions regarding this as I've never had a cold sore in my life:
1) What are my chances of even getting it?
2) What methods or products can I buy now that would help lesson the symptoms if I do get it?
3) When from the time of exposure, can I expect blisters to form?
I'm currently not experiencing any symptoms at all such as tingling, burning, etc.
Thanks
If the person actually made contact with the mouth of the bottle, there's still a chance that the virus may have transmitted. The incubation period is 2-12 days with an average of 4 days. If it's any comfort, most people already carry a herpes virus by the time they reach adulthood but remain asymptomatic.
Don't worry about it unless you experience symptoms. Then see a doctor for a definitive diagnosis. Topical treatment is by prescription.
