When are cold sores contagious?
Hey.
I got a cold sore over a week ago. Mine are very minor. They're uncomfortable, but they never blister or break. They just swell and die down. I have a girlfriend and when I get cold sores it sucks that I can't kiss her!
So, at this point all I have left is the tiniest bump that doesn't hurt or tingle AT ALL. You can't even see it on my lips. I figured it was okay to kiss her because I have in this situation before. So I did yesterday and she's fine. Should I be worried? Because I've heard that they're contagious at all stages, but mine never break and it's barely there. What do you think?
When you have a visible red and borken cold sore it is contagious. You must remember that a cold sore can also be infectious to a woman's genital area and oral sex must be avoided during an outbreak.
