Do I really have fibromyalgia?
About six years ago I started having pains in my shoulders, neck and back. Recently it's gotten a bit worse so Ive gonet oa chiropractor, a neurosurgeon, ive done physical therapy, hot and cold, pain medicine but have not had an mri.I am now taking Lyrica, Ultram and Medrol(cortisol for anti-inflammitory). The rheumatologist i am seeing now has diagnosed me with fibromyalgia and everyone ive talked to about it seems to have different symptoms. I have reaaly sore achey back pain and in my neck and shoulders. mostly the left side of my neck. I have trouble sleeping because im in a lot of pain and im exhausted all day. Ive heard people say that its a tingling pain like needles and i dont have that, so could it still be fibromyalgia. (I'm only 20)
There is NO INFLAMMATIONin FMs--so you are either misdiagnosed or mistreated--either way--your doc is incompetant--as most are
and just because a doc/rheumatoligist says you have it--doesn't mena itis true--i have experienced widespread medical malpractice--not only with fibro--but with many other conditions (in myslef and otehrs)
many docs label any pain as FMS--even if it is due formsomething else form lifestyle or arthritis.
Not everyone has tingling--everyone hs a different set up symptoms--all have pain--most have fatigue....
FMS pain is supposed to be widespread (not confined to shoulders, neck, back)
it should be in the upper/lower, right left, front back
it really sounds like you have a localized problem
pain itself will cause fatigue since you are not sleeping.
you really need to have your neck checked better--have you been to an orthopedist and physical med specialist
