Is this the symptom for Oral herpes?
I had a first sexual relationship with my current girl friend, and about 1-2 days later(both oral and genital), a quite large blister(about1/8 inch) broke out on my bottom lip and it caused a lot of pain when something contacts my lip (feels like touching the scar). I had a cold sore sometimes when im very tired, but it never been painful like this. I immediately bought cold sore treatment from CVS but it's not getting better. The blister is gone now, but im having a small scar like mark on my lip. My girlfriend has nothing similar to my symptom on her lips, and not sure if she has a herpes. Is this the symptom for oral herpes? and is it possible that HSV transmitted from genital to mouth?(cause i heard that genital and oral herpes are caused by different types of herpes simplex virus)
You have cold sores I hate to break it to you but cold sores are caused by oral herpes. Most of the time they are passed on during child hood, when relatives or friends with cold sores kiss children, they don't commonly come from having oral or regular sex. They are also very common to have 50-80 percent of the world has them on the mouth. There is a good chance that your girl friend could have oral herpes too but don't assume that. If it popped up 1-2 days later you could have had cold sores long before you had sex since they usually have period of at least a week before they show symptoms.
Scarring can happen after an out break, it should fade over time.
YES HSV1 on the mouth can be transferred to the genitals. That is how I contracted herpes so it's possible. Genital and oral herpes come from the same herpes virus, they are slightly different strains of it.
