Cold Sore Shower

im pregnant with a cold sore...?
i have had a cold sore for about 9 days now and it is gone but my lip still has a little scar where it was, i was wondering if it is still contagious? for example i had a shower and forgot about it, wiped my face on the towel, then stood on the towel to dry my feet and put on my underwear... could this pass the cold sore to my genital area?? just concerned because i am pregnant...
Your cold sore/fever blister is only contagious in it's blistering stage. When it pops and the clear fluid comes out, it's possible to spread and make the cold sore larger. Once it scabs over, there is no alarm for passing it on.
When I get cold sores here's what I do: When you first feel the tingly sensation, start dousing it with alcohol. Press firmly so the blister kinda pops and then wipe the fluid with the alcohol quickly so it doesn't spread further on the lip area. Dries it out. The quicker the scabbing comes on then the quicker the healing. When the scab arrives, that's when you start putting Neosporin on it. That's a safe measure for pregnant women.
I know you probably didn't like all the gory detail but it works.
Home or Natural Remedies for Colds
The common cold is probably one of the most irritating and uncomfortable viral infectious diseases around. Nobody wants to get colds, for it can greatly affect a person's everyday activities.
Another bad thing about colds is that there is really no cure for it. You can take over-the-counter medications for temporary relief. But be prepared for side effects usually brought by these medicines.
On the other hand, there are some ways that you can do at home that can fast track your way to getting rid of colds. These may not guarantee a quick recovery, but these are safe and can easily be done at the comfort of your home.
The following are some natural remedies for colds:
l Vitamin C.
Vitamin C is known to boost the body's immune system. Hence, it is a must to take Vitamin C supplements. You can also eat grapefruits and oranges, for these are great sources of Vitamin C.
l Chicken soup.
The chicken soup is getting quite popular in the medical community nowadays, for this is proven to be an effective home remedy for colds. It is believed that the chicken broth has anti-inflammatory effects and the steam of the soup helps with the nasal congestion.
l Water.
Water is a good relief from pain and discomfort brought by sore throat. Drink lots of water a day. You can also gargle with one teaspoon of salt dissolved in a glass of warm water several times a day.
l Shower.
Take a warm shower or bath to ease stuffy nose. You can also clear your blocked nose by mixing thyme or menthol leaves in a bowl of warm water. You can then try to place your nose over the bowl and breathe deeply.
With these in mind, you are sure to recover fast from colds and be rid of its irritating and uncomfortable symptoms.
