Cold Sore Sharing Drinks
can someone get herpes from sharing drinks/more?
so my friend's boyfriend has herpes and about 2 months ago or even earlier had a cold sore
they have sex, oral sex share drinks, and kiss and she now has a cold sore do you think she has herpes? and what are you basing this off of? also can she have genital herpes since they both have had oral sex and he doesn't have genital herpes?
It's possible if you take a sip of a drink directly after some one with a cold sore took a sip of the same drink. Herpes doesn't survive in fluids or on objects for more then seconds.
Most of the time oral herpes are passed during child hood by being innocently kissed by some one that has cold sores. The same could have happened to your boy friend's friend when they were a child. Cold sores on the mouth often have nothing to do with having oral sex or sexual intercourse. But they can be passed to the genitals if this person gives oral sex while they have a cold sore on their mouth.
It's possible but you can have one type of herpes with out having the other. Just because she has oral herpes that doesn't mean that she automatically has genital herpes too. they are more likely to pass cold sore to their partner's genitals when having oral sex, then by passing it through sharing drinks. One more thing, herpes isn't always 100 percent automatically passed on when you have sex.
