Cold Sore Secrets
yearly cold sore avoid?
I get a cold sore 1-2 times a year and I HATE IT. I would rather have 100 zits than one cold sore. Anyway, is there ANYTHING I can do to avoid it all togeather? I have one now and put on Abreva all the time, but are there any secret remedies to cure it quicker? I hear ear wax & alcohol but I dont wanna mess it up even more. thanks
there are many 'triggers' that can cause cold sores...so if you know what triggers yours, you can try to avoid that. Triggers can include things such as fatigue, sun exposure, stress, or even hormones. I just got my first one yesterday, and you are right...they are no fun at all. I would just keep putting the abreva on it for now.Remember to wash your hands often while you have the sore...the last thing you want is for it to spread to another area. If this is something that you know you are going to have every year, ask the doctor to perscribe an antiviral drug such as oral zovirax or valtrex to have on hand. At the first sign of them...start taking the oral medication and it will cut down time in half. Hope you're feeling better soon (and I feel your pain

Edit to add: Pick up some L-Lysine(over the counter vitamin found in the vitamin section of any drug store) Taking lysine supplements can speed recovery time and reduce the chance of recurrent breakouts of the herpes infection.
