Cold Sore Remedy For Children

I'm 12 weeks pregnat w/my second child and I've have a cold for over 3 weeks. Any advise on home remedies?
Like I said, I'm pregnant so I know I can't take hardly anything anyway. But I know that there are a lot of home remedies that I don't know about. It started out as an extreme sore throat, heavy cough and runny nose; but now for the last 2 weeks it's been nothing but a stopped up / runny nose. I'm not lying when I say that I can ONLY breathe (out my nose) for maybe an hour during the day (if that). At night and during the day, I have to breathe w/my mouth and today it's caused me HORRIBLE chapped lips and that space between my nose and mouth. I'm in such pain w/that plus my stopped up nose. It's weird b/c I can't blow my nose w/out it feeling like my ears are about to POP OFF, but it's easy to (sorry to be so graphic) 'suck it back' and spit it out. I don't know what's wrong with me. I hope some mothers will read this and be able to relate because I'm in desperate need of help. Please, ANY ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.
talk to your doctor immediately, they can let you know of safe options and you may have an infection that can cause damage to the baby.
i had a sinus infection for 3 weeks at the end of my first pregnancy....it went away almost the minute i gave birth.
vaporizer is great. if you don't have one, just boil large pots of water. lots of chapstick, even on the raw area between your nose and lips. don't know the safety of herbal teas but my aunt (and therefore the rest of the family) swears by licorice soothing throat tea. or you can make your own hot tea with lemon and honey (i know babies can't have honey but what about fetuses?) gargle with salt water. saline only nose spray. there is a vaporizing body wash that johnson&johnson makes for babies....take a bath in that. put a HALLS cough drop in hot/boiling water and breathe the steam. go to the chiropractor, but let them know you are preggo. i was always told by my OBGYN that all tylenol products are safe during pregnancy but i know that certain products can only be used during certain months/weeks.
good luck!! and if a mommie read this, it wasn't too graphic or gross....mommies are used to gross!
