Cold Sore Purell
has anyone every heard of putting "purell" on herpes lesions (genital or cold sores) ?
i just read from some person on the internet that he uses purell on his lesions (base of his scrotum) when he gets a breakout and swears by it! He stated the lesions go away quickly. Has anyone heard of this? Ive heard alcohol kills viruses but wouldnt that burn and cause the outbreak to get worse?
Alcohol-based products are often good at killing germs. Whether or not such products would kill a hard-core virus like herpes is very doubtful, and the person may get a false sense of security.
Alcohol-based products are very good at killing germs on solid surfaces (non-organic counters, etc). When used on body parts, they are still good but not always as dependable. That's why, pre-surgery preps are done with iodine ...not just alcohol.
To get more credible advice, ask a doctor, nurse, or a pharmacist.
