Itchy Lips: Excema or Cold Sores?
I accidentally picked up someone else's lip gloss and used it, upon realization immediately I washed my mouth with (with two different) soaps and coated my mouth with anti-bacterial cleanser and washed my mouth out with mouthwash (and brushed my teeth).
My lips have been feeling itchy but I have been taking care to wash them with soap (and not hand soap as I accidentally did with my first round), but my lips still feel itchy. I'm been touching them a lot and using Vaseline as I have thrown out all my lip gloss (all three of them, which are all the same colour, which has caused this madness in the first place).
Vaseline is ineffective on my excema and does make it worse. I have had excema on my lips in the past, I think it may be the excema but it's been four days and the itching won't go away.
My bottom lip looks inflamed, is it from the constant touching or allergies or cold sores?
I don't think my lips are swelling, I have yet to see cold sores. What it happening?
you shouldnt touch it that much, just put some chapstick on. dont put vaseline on either that traps bacteria. also dont wash your mouth that much, your drying your skin out. if it feels like a buring under the skin then you might get a cold sore. and drink lots of water to hydrate your skin.
Mouth ulcer - Causes And Treatment
A painful sore that is usually red with a white coating appearing inside the mouth is a mouth ulcer or canker sore. These sores can appear in different parts of the mouth; inside the lips, inside cheeks, on the gum or under the tongue. They differ from fever blisters/cold sores in that fever blisters are usually on the outside of the lips also they are not contagious.
Mouth ulcer has become progressively less common since the last 10 years; it is a disease which mainly affects those over 45 and is seen twice as often in men. Improved dental care and mouth hygiene may be factors in its decrease, but the best proven link is with pipe and cigar smoking, particularly when associated with drinking. Mouth ulcers also cause a problem of bad breath.
As pipes have given way to cigarettes, cancer of the lung has increased and cancer of the mouth decreased. It's important to know what a mouth ulcer is, as most people call eruptions ulcers. An ulcer is when tissue has been 'eaten away', as it forms a hollow or crater. An eruption, equally sore and troublesome, is like a hill - it's proud of your skin.
No matter how healthy you are, chances are you've experienced some form of mouth ulcer in your life. It is simply too hard not to get mouth ulcers, from the ubiquitous canker sore to the humiliating cold sore. Any lesion or break in the mucous lining in the mouth can result in an oral ulcer and it is rare to find somebody who has never bitten their cheek or lip. Perhaps because of our widespread susceptibility to mouth ulcers of all kinds, there are countless methods and remedies espoused by countless folks regarding mouth ulcer treatments.
Mouth ulcers generally start off with a burning feeling at a specific spot in the mouth. A blister eventually appears at the same spot and turn into a reddish spot or a slight buildup with it's top broken off. It then slowly turns into an open ulcer, that looks like a white oval with a red border (that's the inflammation).
The white or yellow color inside is the result of layers of fibrin that form around the ulcer. Sometimes a white circle can also be seen around the lesion (called halo by some people).
For long term relief from ulcer you need to take deglycyrrhizinated liquorice (DGL). It stimulates your body to produce protective mucus that encourages healing of mucous membranes, and fight bacteria that causes mouth ulcer. Buy chewable DGL tablets that have had compound glycyrrhizic acid removed as this acid can cause water retention and high blood pressure. Take one or two three times a day. Use it as often as you need. Try taking it for three months to solve the ulcer problem completely if you are suffering from chronic mouth ulcer.
A good way of treating mouth ulcers is with coconut oil which kills the bacteria that causes them. It is also good for treating throat infections, gum disease and cavities. Certainly the Pacific Islanders who have a coconut based diet have excellent dental health and rarely suffer from mouth ulcers even when they have never brushed their teeth or used floss or anti-bacterial mouthwash.
