Cold Sore Medication For Children
VBAC, herpes?
My first child was breech so I had to have a c-section (the incision was on my bikini line). I am now 34 weeks pregnant with my second child and I have requested a VBAC throughout this pregnancy. The hospital is able to do VBACs so thats not a problem. Today my doctor said that we were going to schedule my c-section for about 1 week before my due date. She said if I don't go into labor before then that I probably wouldn't go into labor anyways. Do I have the right to go full term to see if I will go into labor? Also, I have herpes (HSV-1 --the cold sore kind but in my genital area). I have only had one outbreak and that was almost 4 years ago. I have never been on medication for it. They put me on medication that should be only used if clearly needed during pregnancy. If they are planning on me having a c-section then is there really any need in me taking that medication?
You are not techincally due untill 42 weeks. The doctor doesnt know when you conceived and sceduling a c-section at 39 weeks sounds more like your doctor wants to avoid a vbac and could accidentaly deliver your baby prematurely. You need to put your foot down and refuse a c-section untill there is an obvious medical need. An unnesasary c-section has been medically proven to be more dangerous to mother and baby than a vbac, even after 42 weeks most babies do fine, your doctor can give you non stress test to check the health of the baby to ensure everything is fine, a cessarian is completely unnessary and dangerous. Remember that doctors get paid up to 4 times as much for c-sections compared to vaginal birth and they have to put their lives on hold for your entire labor compared to a sceduled 45 minute c-section. What your doctor said about going into labor is a lie, and your doctor is doing what is best for him or her, not what is best for you and your baby. Please read the info on ican-online.com, I will provide some links to espesially relevent pages, the second one refers to vaginal delivery and herpes. Good luck and have a great birth, even if you have to fight for it.
