Cold Sore Itching
Cold sore info please....?
I think I have gotten a cold sore, would be the 1st one EVERY so i have some questions...
1. My dad and brother get them ALL the time, im 24, is it possible that i had it all this time without a break out?
2. Is it possible that a cold sore doesnt hurt or itch or tingle?
3. I've had the spot for 24 hours now. Its not very big, hardly noticable and it started to "leak" clear liquid out of it. It has red spots and some yellowish spots....thats the reason i think its a cold sore.
Any other info you can provide me with would be great! If it sounds like a cold sore, let me know that too.

You my friend have a cold sore. I feel so sorry for you. You have probably had the virus for a long time and it just came out since you have been sick. I get them a lot when I'm tired and run down or when I get sick. I have gotten them so much, I have a prescription for Valtrex. It's medication for genital herpes but also works on cold sores. I get four tablets and I take two of them when I feel it coming up and I take the other two twelve hours later. They are expensive (I pay $40 for them and that's with my insurance.) but well worth it.
Since you don't have them as bad as I do, I suggest wrapping a piece of ice in a paper towel and holding it against the cold sore for a few minutes. It makes it feel better and it won't get as big. Then go to the drugstore and get you some stuff to go on it. You can get Abreva or Herpecin-L to go on it. I have found that the Herpecin-L works really good and it isn't very expensive. It is about $4 and it comes in a tube like chapstick. You can also use it on a every day basis and it prevents them from coming up as much.
