Diefference between a cold sore and a canker sore?
I have a sore on the inside of my lip down by my bottom teeth. There are 2 little white dots and they hurt really bad. Are they just canker sores or could they be a cold sore?
They are not cold sores. They are canker sores. Numerous factors have been associated with canker sores, and what causes them in any individual case is often hard to figure out.
Canker sores will get better on their own without any treatment. But there are things you can do to help it along and to feel better. Orajel which you can get without a prescription will numb the sore and make it less painful. There are also prescription medications you can get that will help. There are several mouthwashes that can help – look for one without alcohol. Even if you don’t have any of those treatments, you can rinse your mouth with salted water several times a day. It is gross, but it will help.
