Cold Sore Hydrocortisone
Severely dry, chapped skin on/around lips?
This past winter I've had extremely dry lips around my mouth. There's a patch of dry skin right above my top lip bordering my actual lips, I keep some hydrocortisone cream my dermatologist gave me but as soon as I stop and get back on normal lip moisturizer it comes back. At first I thought it was cold sore but I used abreva and nothing, then a doctor prescribed me valtrex, that didn't work either. I'm not sure what exactly it is because it gets so dry and red like when little kids get the chapped lips, and sooooo itchy. I notice sometimes clear fluid comes out but it doesn't crust over or anything. I've read about coldsores and it sounded like it to an extent, but I've taken Valtrex and Abreva and nothing happened. I don't think it is coldsores, my skin is just so sensitive I can't figure it out. I thought it was my toothpaste but I switched brands and still the same thing, dry, itchy, red lips. HELPPPP!! I'm tired of guessing!
sounds like you may be allergic to something- i have had that problem with certain different lipsticks,lip gloss or even some lip balm. i would keep track of what i eat and put in or around my lips. good luck!
Rescuing Chapped Lips Due to Angular Chelitis

Cold season is not a good time to experience chapped lips. Anything cold is the worst enemy of chapped lips because it further dries up the mouth. Thus, when you have one during winter, you should look for places where you would feel warm or humid.
