Cold Sore Herpes Virus
what are the chances of catching the cold sore virus...?
what are the chances of catching the cold sore virus from a lipgloss that someone else may have used?
Basically I bought a gloss off ebay and it said new / unused and I've tried it out but then i thought what if they had lied and perhaps tried it once didnt like the colour and decided to sell it as new, if they had a sore or the herpes virus that causes it what are the chances i would catch it?
And if i did get it how soon would i get an attack?
Im aware i sound paranoid but i just wanted to know.
For starters, only buy/use lipgloss packages that come with a safety seal and are SEALED when you get them. If they're open, they've been tampered with.
Secondly, the chances are pretty slim. They would have to have the virus, first of all. And have had the virus make contact with the lipgloss (through a sore or some other open skin/abrasion). Also, viruses are quite limited in the time they can survive outside a host (since they're technically not a living organism they lack the ability to reproduce and live for long periods of time outside a host).
Overall I would guess you're pretty safe, but in the future, stick to sealed/unopened packages when it comes to makeup. I wouldn't be buying makeup off the internet either.
