i have costochondritis and possible glandular fever?
do you get a lot of colds when you have glandular fever?, my doctor said that i keep getting colds every 2 weeks because of possible glandular fever, i thought that it was a lot more serious then getting frequent bad colds & sore throats, she said my glands were up, what exactly is glandular fever, because i've heard so many different stories about how serious it is & stuff & plus i have cartilage on my chest that's gotten infected so im very ill at the moment, how could i help myself get better? please help i'm rather confused the doctor didn't explain it very well
Chostochondritis is generally not caused by an infection in that particular location, inflammation in this joint seems to develop as a side effect of having a viral infection - such as a cold, flu, or glandular fever.
Glandular fever itself causes symptoms very similar to a cold, but without all the mucus. It can weaken your immune system for several months and make you more susceptible to other infections. The symptoms of glandular fever commonly flare up and then relapse several times.
Glandular fever is diagnosed with a simple blood test. Viral infections might take 10 days to several weeks to clear up, so you may just have to ride it out.
