Cold Sore Clear Fluid

Can a cold sore appear in other areas even if you've had it in the same spot all your life?
I felt this tingling on the right center of my lower lip one day after work then it bubbled up and became filled with a clear looking fluid. Gross!!!! Anyway, I didn't think it was a cold sore because when I get them always get them on the right corner of my lower lip area. The next day it looked swollen and now its developed a crust. I am pretty much convinced that its a cold sore, only I am confused now because from what I have learned about cold sores is that you usually get it in the same spot. Can somebody who really knows clear up the confusion. Should I have a dermatologist see this? I kissed a guy not too long ago and am wondering if it was something he may have passed on to me because now I am freaking out.
Cold sores can appear anywhere around the lips, so this is most likely a cold sore. Cold sores can also follow nerve pathways sometimes - many years ago when I was not very well I had a bad attack of cold sores and they started following nerve pathways up my cheek toward my eye, so yes, they can appear in different places.
The absolute best treatment for cold sores is a prescription medication in pill form called Valtrex. It was intended for genital herpes, but cold sores are caused by the same family of viruses, and Valtrex stops colds sores in their tracks. None of the other treatments come close to the effectiveness of Valtrex, not the ointment Zovirax, and not Abreva or anything else. Ask your doctor about it to see if you would be a good candidate for the meds. My doctor prescribed it for me for cold sores about five years ago and after taking it only a couple of times I hardly ever get a cold sore any more, and I was having several attacks a year. On the rare occasions that I do get one, it is gone almost immediately when I take the medication - in about a day. Ask your doctor about it. In the meantime, here are a couple of informative links.
