Godsmack for Life
I don't know why but I always thought that Godsmack was raunchy like Slipknot. Don't ask me why, maybe it was the impression of one of the first songs I heard or maybe it was around the same time a lot of those bands were coming out and a were a bit raunchy compared to what I was 'in to' at the time. I only *just* got turned on to them with in the past couple weeks when I was talking to a friend about the music we liked and he mentioned he liked Godsmack and asked if I did. It is Metal but I honestly didn't have a lot to say about them b/c I didn't know the band or the music (or so I thought). I said I had heard some of their songs, they were pretty good but didn't own any of their music. And then it was mentioned again by his wife, specifically "Awaken". It got me curious to learn more. So I hit you tube. Well, I found some kick ass music! AND I found music that I used to like years ago when I'd watch the music videos, specifically "I Stand Alone" from the Scorpion King soundtrack in 2002. I used to love that song. Wow, how could I forget this stuff?! I guess sometimes "life" gets in the way and things get pushed aside and tastes may change. Incidentally, I did use my open-mindedness, and check out some Slipknot and some of their stuff I found it pretty good! A little fk'ing scary looking with all the masks but good. I am getting older, but seem to be more open these days to music of all kinds. Only liking one kind when I was younger kept me in a small world. As long as I keep an open mind and continue to learn I keep my music library growing and I feel stronger is some way. I have a passion for music and doing these blogs keeps me learning more, because of you guys! Thanks.
Getting off track so….a bit about the band in my spot light today…did you know that the front man (Sully Erna) had been a drummer for 23yrs and then came out behind the drums in 1995 to start the band? They finally got situated in 1996 and changed their name from "The Scam" to "Godsmack". The name Godsmack came from Sully making fun of someone one day that had a cold sore. He said it was a godsmack. And there ya go. In 2000 Godsmack released their second CD, Awake. This album's title track dominated rock radio and broke chart records throughout 2000 and 2001. The CD's instrumental track "Vampires" earned the band its first Grammy nomination. …Interesting. They toured with the kings of metal, Metallica, for 11 months and more recently they are touring with Crue fest 2.
So thought I'd dedicate this blog to the one that reminded me of something I was missing and had forgotten about…Thanks dude, they fk'ing rock! And to all of you, for making me keep an open mind…there isn't just one kind of music out there, so open your ears and your mind and become stronger…you'll know what I mean when it happens to you.

1. Applying ice at first sign of tingling for about 20 minutes and repeated applications throughout the day is effective in slowing the cold sore lesion development.
2. Topical medication containing zinc is useful
3. Applying tea bags on your cold sores is another effective cold sore treatment. As tea contains tannic acid which is antiviral, the herpes simplex virus is suppressed.
4. L-lysine (2 to 4 g) may be consumed daily under the advice of your doctor.
