Am I at the beginning stages of a cold sore?

There is a tiny, almost unnoticable white dot on my lips, and I might be just imagining it but I could swear that side of my lip is swelling a bit. I just got back from a vacation with a friend who got a cold sore on her nose. We shared drinks. I also currently have a cold. Is there a chance that I got it from her, even if I never actually touched her sore?

I was told by a doctor that we all have these types of germs in our bodies but sometime they just increase at times. It is one of the easiest to catch. Cold sores can get very infectious if you pick at it. At the first sign of a cold sore, I couldn't find my stuff to put on it to dry it up. I did find some chap stick and applied it. It dried up before getting big. whew.
It isn't a cold sore on the nose. I think it is called impetigo. My doctor told me to use a product called 'nose sense' It drys up in a day.
