Cold Sore Almost Gone

Is it safe to kiss my boyfriend when my cold sore is in "scab" stage, and is almost gone?
I got it a 8 days ago, I've been using Abreeva almost everyday, and it is a tiny tiny scab. He doesn't get cold sores, and I'm sure he doesn't want to start. Is it spreadable when it is a little scab and almost gone?
Hi - hope I can help you here.
The open sore and scab stage are actually the most contagious stages of a cold sore. The virus is extremely active under the scab. Fact is, should you break the scab, there will be fluid under it that is teaming with virus particles.
The healing must be totally complete. That means that after the scab is gone, there will be some pinkish skin that shows it is still healing underneath. The pink should be totally gone before you are considered safe.
Putting garlic oil or tea tree oil on the scab will help heal the sore more quickly so you can get on with your life as soon as possible. You will still be contagious to some degree but those two oils are very anti-virus - and may be a bit of a safeguard from accidentally spreading the disease.
This virus is spread by contact. It is so contagious that nearly 90% of those above 12 years old carry it.
If you want to prevent cold sores from occurring in the first place and interfering with your social life try starting a daily vitamin regimen with a high quality supplement. I personally take vitamin packets because they contain the quantities needed for preventing cold sores. You want high dosages of vitamins A through E plus calcium and zinc. Calcium is very important.
Also, along with the vitamin supplements, most folks take a daily lysine capsule. Lysine is extremely important in any cold sore prevention program.
You can find a lot of ways to heal and prevent cold sores for free at the source sites I have listed below.
Hopefully then you won't have to stop kissing your boyfriend because you won't get cold sores.
Take care and good luck.
